Guardian Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring the event follows the Leave-No-Trace principal
by educating and empowering Participants, and when necessary, picking up
the stuff that has been left by others, drifted by the wind or simply
forgotten. This includes the porta-potties.
Earth Guardian Coordinator
Pre-event Duties
Join the event planning group
Brief Event Organizer at least bi-weekly
Monitor shift schedule
Solicit volunteers
Inventory supplies & submit order for additional supplies to Event
Manager at least 45 days prior to the event
During Event Duties
Arrange for supplies to be transported to event site
Make sure that GLOO and LNT Volunteers are trained in proper procedures
Monitor Porta-potties, pool, and showers on an as needed basis
Make sure shifts are being adequately covered
Solicit volunteers
Educate Participants about LNT
Post-event Duties
Arrange for supplies to be packed up and transported to designated
storage
Email a summary of problems, concerns, successes, suggestions regarding
LNT or GLOO to Event Manager
GLOO Volunteers
During Event Duties
Enforce the Porta-Potty Pledge
Educate Participants about proper potty etiquette
Refill TP and necessity bags in potties as needed
Remove MOOP as needed
Judge potties for Golden Loo points
Shower Guardians
During Event Duties
Monitor the showers for MOOP - make sure that people using the shower do
not leave anything behind. If someone leaves something behind,
kindly instruct them to remove their MOOP. Shower Guardians are
responsible for disposing of any MOOP left in the showers at the end of
their shift.
If there is no Shower Guardian on shift Participants will not be allowed
to use the showers.
Pool Guardians
During Event Duties
Monitor the pool for MOOP - make sure that people using the pool do not
leave anything behind. If someone leaves something behind, kindly
instruct them to remove their MOOP. Pool Guardians are responsible
for disposing of any MOOP left at the pool at the end of their shift.
If there is no Pool Guardian on shift Participants will not be allowed
to use the pool.
LNT Volunteers
During Event Duties
Pick up the stuff that has been left by others, drifted by the wind or
simply forgotten, i.e. MOOP
